I am Caroline. I am Diné. As an Arizona native, born and raised on the Navajo Nation in Tuba City, Arizona I decided very early in my life that giving back to my community and Indigenous people across the country is something I needed and wanted not only in my career, but generally in life.  I have been working in the public health field for over 10 years, with experience ranging across various areas of health and social services, research and evaluation, housing, behavioral health, education and more. Across those many dimensions I have always been focused on Indigenous communities and Peoples.

I decided to start Bééhózin Consulting after working many years in the for profit sector of federal government subcontracting and the experience I have had with various organizations and contractors/consultants. I have observed and experienced the immense lack of cultural relevance and cultural understanding when non-Native run organizations work with Tribal nations and communities. I wanted to stop having to navigate and strategically place my feedback and thoughts on Indigenous approaches based on how "ready" the organization or individuals were ready to hear something. I wanted to work within an environment that was built for and by Native Peoples, with their wellbeing and livelihood at the center of the work that I did. That is the foundation of Bééhózin Consulting.
